"I bought this book for my 2 year old during my pregnancy. I wasn't really sure she understood what was going to happen and wanted some way to brace her for what was about to happen. This book did the trick. Not only did it become her favorite book (and an easy for mama and papa), but she actually understood the concept of being a big sister and helping with the baby when the time came. She loves her new role as a sissy and I think "the sissy book" had something to do with it. So happy with this purchase!!"

- The book content refered to Big Brother not Big Sister aa the cover suggests. We wanted our 3 year old Grandaughter to have the book for Christmas to help with her expectations of her soon to arrive brother. Disappointed, I’m glad that I looked beyond the cover to realize the mistake.
- This was one of several "big sister" type of books we bought for our toddler when we started introducing our daughter to the concept of having another baby in the house. The story is simple enough for an under 2 year old to grasp, the illustrations are clear, and the general message is that a big sister can take a helpful and active role in caring for and playing with the new sibling. We generally hold Caroline Jayne Church's board books in high regard at our house, and this book is one of the ones our now 22 month old picks frequently out of the shelf to read with me. From a parent's point of view, it's not awful, it's not the best ever board book on the subject we've ever seen, as the book - and most of its kind - starts from the baby already being here, when introducing the concept of "don't jump on Mommy's tummy, it hurts" to a rowdy toddler is still a priority.
Note to the "Crunchy" crowd Our absolute favorite big sibling board books are from Rachel Fuller's "New Baby" set (a total of 4 books, we currently have 2; "Waiting for Baby" and "My New Baby"), as they are better aligned with our "crunchy" parenting style, "My New Baby" includes breastfeeding and babywearing in a tasteful way that treats nursing as normal, and the mom in the pictures doesn't "whip it out", as some breastfeeding critics might say. I also appreciate that Fuller's "Waiting for Baby" incorporates going to prenatal appointments and ultrasounds with Mom, and toddler and Dad fixing up dinner while tired, heavily pregnant Mom is resting, an all too common sight at our house since I've had numerous health issues throughout my pregnancy, and require frequent rest, so Daddy being shown participating in the preparation for baby is greatly appreciated. - This is a pretty cute book for a big sister. Our daughter is 2.5 and just became a big sister to a little brother, so she likes reading this book. I will say, the book talks about some things she's probably not going to do by herself - change diapers (she's a toddler...), things like that. However, if does have some good ideas for her (play quietly with her toys while baby sleeps!), so I would definitely recommend it for the toddler age group. I'd say this book is a little too simplistic for an older child.
- Great little book. My daughter is very excited about the new expectant baby. I also like that the book doesn't specify the baby as a brother or sister. It just refers to it as a baby. It's a great size, simple wording, and descriptive pictures. My daughter can't wait to do all of the things the sister character does in the book.
Covers all the basics that comes with a baby, feeding, changing, helping, and being quiet during nap time.
Would make a great gift for the little girl in your life that's becoming a big sister. - I like it. my daughter loves books and this ones pretty good.
I'm still pregnant and trying to prepare my almost 2 year old for her new sister.
It's great for her age.
Only thing that's slightly iffy is the last page saying something about mommy, daddy, baby and me
And we have another older sibling. I just add his name in there, it a not a big deal especially if you buy the book knowing it. - I bought this book for my 2 year old during my pregnancy. - My three year old loves this book. Sometimes more than she loves her new brother lol. She wants me to read it to her often and remembers some of the pages by the pictures alone so she "reads" it to me and her baby brother too.
- I am 7 months pregnant with a two year who I know I've spoiled with time and love and toys. So I'm trying to prepare her for her world to completly change. This book has been instrumental with helping that change come about. She's already excited to meet and help and now we're pretending she's taking care of the baby like in the book. She knows the whole book and almost recites it fully from memory. I suppose I should update to see how she really takes to the new addition to the family.
