Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant Audible Audio Edition Joel Golby Random House Audio Books Reviews

  • With this wonderful collection of essays, Captain Golby rams the Titanic of polite society into the iceberg of taboo. His frank crudeness and naked honesty, paired with his British wit and knack for nihilism, will keep you laughing and entertained throughout. Definitely recommend this one to people who keep it real. Definitely don't recommend this one to people who eat dinner with more than one fork.
  • Although there were a number of funny parts to this book I was very disappointed overall. It seemed to me that it was mostly about his experiences with drinking, either alone or with his mates. There are vague references to relationships but no details nor any names (I may have missed them). I was looking forward to reading this book but got very bored about half-way through when I realized I couldn't care less about the author's life, his mates, his mother, his father or anybody else in there. Brilliant? Nope, not brilliant.
  • I have read articles of Joel Golby's for a number of years now, but this collection gives his experience a new level of depth to the reader. Unfortunately I was in public for the entirety of "Things You Only Know When Both Your Parents Are Dead", which caused me to laugh hysterically and cry fat tears over the course of a few dozen pages.
  • Hilarious and a quick read! Because there are a bunch of short essays, there is probably one that fits your interests, even if your interests are wildly different from mine. Would definitely recommend if you need a little light reading
  • It was offensive to me. Very coarse, boring, and NOT funny.
  • A real cracker of a book, nice and chewy, good for reading on the bus, or the loo, or in bed, or just about anywhere.
  • funny and with heart, brought me back to my younger days (i am of the same age as Joel Golby) and i really related.
  • I truly didn't enjoy this book, even though I had high hopes for it.
